Purpose of the guideline: As China's population gradually ages, the incidence of osteoporosis is increasing annually. Osteoporosis is the most common disease of the skeletal system in the elderly population, and has become a public health problem. Patients with osteoporosis are often accompanied by pain, and most patients suffer from long-term pain, accompanied by anxiety and depression, and need long-term care, which greatly affects the quality of life of the elderly. And the treatment of acute and chronic pain caused by osteoporosis is a huge challenge even for specialists, but there is a lack of guidelines and consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporotic pain in elderly patients as a reference for clinical practice. So Chinese Association of Geriatric Research organized experts in related fields to consult literature, repeated discussion, combined with clinical experience and China's national conditions, and formulated the "Chinese Expert Consensus on the Diagnosis, Treatment and Management of Osteoporotic Pain in the Elderly (2024)" to standardize and promote the clinical work of the diagnosis, treatment and management of osteoporotic pain in elderly patients in China.
