Purpose of the guideline: | As one of the three fundamental debridement techniques in burn surgery, eschar dermabrasion is optimal to manage fresh deep-partial-thickness burn wounds. Despite decades’ application in clinic, considerable discrepancies exist on the timing, instruments, procedures, dressings and post-operative treatments, etc., leading to inconsistent clinical outcomes. Thus, we reviewed and screened relative literatures and analyzed the articles with high-level evidence, to draft a rough version of guideline. Then after extensive discussions among experts of burn wound management, a consensus guideline finally formed, which would provide scientific and standard guidance for application of eschar dermabrasion in burn wounds. |
